RATINGS FORMING PART OF NAVIGATIONAL WATCH (DECK WATCHKEEPING)

Scope
This course covers various subjects that are relevant to the watch-keeping duties and responsibilities of deck ratings forming part of a navigational watch. The course includes theory and practical training utilizing latest TRANSAS Full Mission Bridge Simulator and actual safety equipment such as EPIRB and pyrotechnics.
Objectives

Upon completion of this training program, the candidate will fulfill the requirements of Table A-II/4 of the STCW Code which provide for competence in their actual duties and responsibilities. Specifically, the trainees should be able to:

 

  • Steer the ship and also comply with the helm orders in the English Language;
  • Keep a proper look-out by sight and hearing;
  • Contribute to monitoring and controlling a safe watch; and
  • Operate emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures

 

Entry Standards
This training course is intended for individuals who shall seek for certification of ratings forming part of a navigational watch.
